The energy medicine known as Reiki Practice is a Japanese hands on healing modality and Spiritual Practice. It uses energy to promote balance & healing. Reiki is what the medical community refers to as a CAM (Complementary Alternative Medicine or Energy Medicine) and as such there are never any negative side affects. And as a CAM Reiki can help with any medical challenge and will support any treatment plan perscribed by your health care provider.
The power of Energy Medicine has been documented and is so accepted by our medical community that today we can find Reiki Practice being used in almost any medical setting. Reiki is being used in hospitals daily across the country in oncology departments and for pre & post operative care. We can find Reiki being used in hospice & palliative care settings, we can find Reiki along side chiropractic medicine, homeopathic medicine, acupuncture & Chinese medicine, massage therapy and on and on. It is so widely used because it is effective.
Reiki returns us to physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually balanced functioning. It assists us with a wide range of health conditions, including: cancer, anxiety, chronic pain, heart disease, depression, Autism, infertility, end of life care, HIV/AIDS, and many others. Regardless of the challenges you face, Reiki can help you face them more calmly and effectively by aiding your body in it's own natural healing abilities.
Conventional medicine takes a direct approach to address health challenges, whereas Reiki does not have to target symptoms directly for it to be effective. We can assist our body’s healing with medicines and therapies to support it in ultimately healing itself. But in order for self-healing mechanisms to function well, the body needs to achieve a state of rest and be in balance, the Reiki Energy Medicine does just that.
Whereas modern medicine focuses on the physical body alone, Reiki Practice focuses on the entire person. We have an emotional body, mental body, Spiritual body AND a physical body. All four are real, all four are connected, and when one is out of balance they are all out of balance.
The autonomic nervous system (ANS) is the part of the nervous system that regulates the unconscious functions of the body like heart rate, digestion and breathing. The two branches of the ANS are the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS), which controls the flight or fight or survival/stress mode, and the Parasympathetic Nervous System (PNS), which controls the rest and digest or healing/balance mode. With the high demands of modern life, many of us unknowingly go through much of the day in a coping, SNS-dominate mode. As Reiki energy moves out of the practitioner’s hands into client’s or patient’s body, it allows the body to shift from a state of survival/coping to the much needed PNS-dominate rest/healing state. It is here that the body is able to restore itself most effectively.
Both scientific evidence supported by major hospitals, and client stories and testimonials, have reported beneficial results from the practice of Reiki healing. These areas of positive impact include: pain management, reduced side effects of chemotherapy, relaxation, alleviated depression, improved sleep, faster surgical recovery, enhanced overall well-being, stronger self-esteem, heightened intuition, substance & alcohol recovery, better digestion, and many more.
During a Reiki therapy session the clients are treated in a dark, quiet room on a massage table. They are fully clothed and lying on their back. The Reiki Practitioner's hands are positioned slightly above the body, stationary or not. There is little to no physical touch or skin contact, and sessions last anywhere from 60-90 minutes.
A Reiki treatment gives one a sense of calm, comfort, and peace. Some clients feel warmth and heat coming off the practioner‘s hands. Others feel soft waves of subtle pulsations flowing through their bodies. Some feel nothing but complete and total relaxation.
Although a majority of clients report feeling better after the first session, it is generally recommended to complete more than one. For those with serious health concerns, completing several treatments close together is the most beneficial, as they build on each other and stabilize desired results. The bottom line is the more treatments you complete, the better you will feel overall.
